Kathryn Erbe returns as Detective Alexandra Eames to the tenth and final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent

Deadline – Kathryn Erbe Is Back On ‘Law & Order: CI’

[…] Kathryn Erbe, who portrayed Detective Alexandra Eames for the first 8 seasons of Dick Wolf’s crime drama, has signed on to return for the show’s tenth and final season on USA. She joins Vince D’Onofrio, who recently inked a deal to reprise his role, meaning that CI will be back for its eight-episode final season with both of its original leads who were let go in a cast overhaul last year. “We’re thrilled to have Kathryn Erbe return as Detective Eames, the perfect complement to Donofrio’s Detective Goren,” said USA’s president of original programming Jeff Wachtel. “We now have the definitive team for the ultimate season of this phenomenal show.”

This was very predictable – USA Network and Wolf would have been crazy not to hire them back. But they WILL be crazy if Rene Balcer, Fred Berner, and Warren Leight aren’t hired as executive producers to end Law & Order: CI!

It’s been said that Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is still with the cast (along with Leslie Hendrix of course). Will Criminal Intent have an ADA this final season? – It’s a question that remains unanswered.

The final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent will air the beginning of next year on USA Network.

‘CI’ has had such a turbulent final few years that I can only hope whoever is in charge can bring some of the classic Goren/Eames magic back to the show and allow it to go out on a high. To that end, I can’t really see anyone other than Balcer and Berner (with possibly Leight) taking the reins. It would be a real shame if Walon Green stayed on: hell, move Green over to ‘LOLA’ if that’s what it takes to get Balcer to ‘CI’!

I’d be fine if Warren Leight would return (if Balcer couldn’t). Walon Green? > GTFO!
